Vancouver-based Big Time Decent Productions has appointed documentary veteran Jeffrey Kinnon as its new Vice President of Factual, marking a significant expansion of the company's leadership team. In this newly created role, Kinnon will oversee the development of Big Time Decent's factual content slate, collaborate with creative partners, and cultivate new talent relationships.
Kinnon brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, including his tenure at Great Pacific Media, where he served as Director of Development and later as Series Producer on projects like Discovery's Mud Mountain and CBC's High Arctic Haulers. Prior to that, he was at Omnifilm Entertainment, where he co-created and produced the hit series Jade Fever for Discovery.
Company founder Matt Shewchuk expressed enthusiasm about the hire, stating, “Jeff’s creative reputation is stellar, and his ability to run difficult productions on location is a great match for us.”
Big Time Decent, launched by Shewchuk in 2020, focuses on producing both unscripted and scripted content. The company's first series, Backroad Truckers, produced in partnership with Mayhem Entertainment and distributed by Corus Studios, is set to premiere on Corus Entertainment’s HISTORY channel in winter 2021.
